the spring collection from moochi is about to be released. inspired by a whimsical children’s book, the poison diaries, the ‘beautiful poison’ collection has four chapters – each telling it’s own story.
the story begins with ‘the boy’. french masculine tailoring and strong, confident styling deliver the story’s details; skeleton leaf seams, hand embroidered knots and a maze like print. shapes are effortless and have a timeless strength about them. colour is minimalist with blacks, greys and soft greens, highlighted with white.
‘the boy’s’ love for book character marigold brings ‘the girl’ to life, she is his light. she embodies all things feminine, with ballet influences, pintucks and petal shaped seams. even the tiny floral has a velvety touch. this hemlock flock print sets the colour palette of muted softness with clear bright lavenders and jades.
set in an apothecary garden, botanicals run wild. the ‘great weed print’ is at the centre of the garden chapter. it has a unique combination of forward freshness and vintage illustration, with pop colour sitting amongst muted shades. looks are quirky and chic. separates form stand out looks and the dresses memorable moments.
the final chapter is ‘to die for’. representing the poisons in the book, the looks are liquid and sensual. fabrics ooze and drape with bias cutting, cut outs and experimention of lengths to give maximum impact in emotional and earthy tones, reds, oranges and black.
original prints have been individually created to tell the tale of each look and design details appear at every corner. the design team have challenged their limits to bring a cohesive, rich, developed, exciting feel to the new season. definitely a fashion moment for moochi.
